Plain-English guides to every kind of US mortgage

Menu

This page explains the small amount of browser storage The Mortgage Guide Hub uses and how you can control it.

The short answer

We use only essential storage that keeps the site working the way you set it. It lives in your own browser and is never sent to us. We do not use third-party cookies at launch, and we do not use advertising trackers.

What we store in your browser

We use your browser’s local storage (a small storage area in your browser, similar to a cookie) for these items:

NamePurposeTypeHow long it lasts
tmgh-themeRemembers whether you chose the light or dark themeEssential, local storageUntil you clear your browser storage
tmgh-consentRemembers your cookie choice (“Allow analytics” or “Essential only”) so we do not ask again on every pageEssential, local storageUntil you clear your browser storage or change your choice
tmgh-recent-searchKeeps your recent searches on this site so you can repeat them quicklyEssential, local storageUntil you clear your browser storage

These items stay on your device. We cannot see them, and they are not used to track you across other websites.

Your language choice is part of the page address. For example, Spanish pages start with /es/. Choosing a language simply takes you to that version of the page.

Third-party cookies

There are no third-party cookies on the site at launch. We do not run advertising networks, social media trackers or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Our host, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses for security and to deliver pages. Our privacy policy explains this.

Optional analytics

We do not use analytics at launch. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, they will load only after you click “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner. If you choose “Essential only”, or make no choice, no analytics will load. We will list any analytics cookies or storage in the table above before they are used.

How to change your choice

You can change your choice at any time:

  1. Scroll to the footer of any page.
  2. Click “Cookie settings”.
  3. Choose “Allow analytics” or “Essential only”.

Your new choice takes effect right away.

Browser controls

You can also control storage in your browser settings. Most browsers let you:

  • see and delete stored site data
  • block cookies and storage for all sites or for one site
  • use private browsing, which clears storage when you close the window

If you clear or block storage, the site will still work. It will just forget your theme, your cookie choice and your recent searches, so you may see the cookie banner again.
